The fundamental components of an intrusion (burglar) alarm system
are the sensors (12), the control unit (26)
and the Output unit (33), also called Annunciator. The sensors
detect intrusion by using various sensing techniques - sensing motion, vibration, sound,
pressure, heat, light, impact etc. The central control unit receives the signals from the
sensor, process them as per the set parameters and then activates the Output Unit (e.g.,
bell or siren or Telephone dialer etc.)
The following sections give complete details of various components that constitute
intruder alarms.
