The cameras that are available in the market these days are very
compact, highly reliable and capable of offering dependable service in a range of
environmental conditions. The ever-decreasing sizes have led to innovations in their
security applications, wherever undetected monitoring is desired. The list of objects that
may be used to hide a surveillance camera is limited only by imagination. For most
security applications, the use of monochrome ( black-and-white ) cameras is acceptable.
These give satisfactory picture resolution and are far less expensive than colour cameras. Please
note that the resolution (picture quality) depends upon the camera as well as the monitor
resolution.
Pin-Hole Cameras
These days pin-hole cameras are also available in the
market. In such camera there is no lens and so the cost of such cameras goes low. These
cameras have slightly inferior quality of picture and performance is poor in poor
illumination.
Miniature/Concealed Cameras
Due to miniaturization of electronic cameras, it is
feasible to conceal such small cameras in practically anything. There are video cameras
that are just 1.0x0.5X0.5 inches in size (these are not expensive either). Such small
cameras can be concealed in watches, pictures, show pieces, domes, etc.
These days there are cameras that can be connected to PC and the image can be viewed on
normal telephone lines or Internet.
