Video switches are required for connecting multiple cameras to a
single monitor or multiple monitors. The simplest type is the manual switcher which
displays picture from any one selected camera. The observer can manually display the
pictures from camera to camera. Such kind of switching is cumbersome as after some time
the observer will get bored by this repetitive action of switching one camera after the
other and may stop this altogether.
To overcome this problem there is an electronic switcher called Automatic Sequential
switcher which operates in an automatic sequencing mode, whereby picture from each of the
individual camera is presented on the television monitor, one after the other
automatically in a sequence. The length of time each camera picture is presented on the
monitor screen can be varied by the operator. While sequencing the cameras, various
selectable modes are usually provided, e.g.
By pass -( to omit
any selected camera from display)
Automatic sequencing
(to display of all the connected cameras in sequence)
Select -(to present
the selected camera for display continuously on the monitor over riding the sequencing
function.)
