For protection of very expensive cars GPS based systems
are used. In such systems when the alarm goes off a mobile phone sends the signal using
GPS (ground positioning system). A central agency then traces the path of the car based
upon the signals sent by the car's GPS system. Such systems are very useful to detect that
automobiles are taken across state or country boundaries. Such systems are obviously
expensive and are normally used for top end cars.
These days GPS systems are increasingly being used for tracking the movement of a vehicle.
For cash vans or other important vehicles, the path of the vehicle is defined on a
Digitised path. The actual movement is compared with the defined path using GPS based
system in the car. If there is a variation between planned and actual path then the system
gives an alarm in the control room. |
